Air Freight - Volume Weight Conversion
The cubic volume of a consignment is established by applying
the greatest length, the greatest width and the greatest
height of the consignment or its packages. If the extreme
dimensions of which result in an average of more than 6000
cubic centimetres the consignment shall be charged on a
volume basis
EXAMPLE:
The dimensions of a consigment are 160cms x 140cms x 140cms
The chargeable / Volume weight is established by dividing
the cubic centimentres by 6000.
The resultant equivalent in Kgs is rounded up to the nearest
full or half kilogram.
160 x 140 x 140 = 3,136,000 cubic centimetres divided by
6000 = 522.67kgs = rounded up to 523kgs.
If the volume weight of a consignment is greater than the
actual weight, the larger amount is used.
